Individual Support Service (ISS) became part of The SLC Group in June. The staff team currently supports 21 individuals with autism and learning disabilities across Coventry and Warwickshire to take part in a range of daytime opportunities as well as providing supported living services.

In November 2010 The SLC Group opened two new supported living schemes in Heckmondwike, Yorkshire. Home to six individuals with a range of needs, the two modern supported living tenancies are located right in the heart of Kirklees and provide outcome focussed support so people can live independently in their own tenancies.

Angie was one of the first individuals to use our services via a direct payment and, four years on, Angie’s mum Judi tells us how self directed support was definitely the right pathway for her daughter.

In February we hosted a service user consultation forum at SLC’s central office in Lancashire. The was a huge success with individuals from across our North West services taking time out to share their views and allow SLC Managers to learn from their personal experience of our support services.

The SLC Group have been working in partnership with Sign Loop Interpreting Services to drive forward our deaf services in Birmingham. Sign Loop specialises in providing Language Service Professionals for the deaf and hard of hearing by providing Interpreters to deaf people in their work place as part of their Access to Work (Government funded scheme).
