As an Investors in People Organisation the Learning and Development of our staff is key. As a new staff member you will be required to complete our in-depth and comprehensive induction training and development programme prior to working in our services.

We will also provide you with specialist training based on the specific needs of the individuals you will be supporting and, as your career with us progresses, on your personal goals and career aspirations.

What training opportunities can I expect at The SLC Group?

  • Common Induction Standards (CIS) training (formerly LDQ)

  • QCF apprenticeships, advanced apprenticeships and diplomas (formerly NVQs).

  • Management Training Programmes ILM.

  • Coaching and Mentoring Programmes.

  • Mandatory Courses: Manual Handling, First Aid, Safeguarding Adults, Health and Safety, Fire Safety, Safe Handling of Medication.

  • Specialist Training: Challenging Behaviour, Autism, Epilepsy, Diabetes, Makaton, Communication Skills, Dementia.

  • Specific Training: In line with individuals specific needs, e.g. moving and handling, personal care, individual medication requirements

Training is delivered internally and externally – often in partnership with health and social care professionals from Local Authorities and PCTs.

Many of the people we support and their families/advocates are also involved in training teams in line with their specific training needs.
